The Ian Fleming School of Photography offers a variety of photographic courses and workshops to suite your needs.
3 DAY COURSE
The 3 day course compromises of the following. The first day of the course is held at our modern well equipped studio on Gray Street Knysna. We are situated 200 meters from the Knysna Quays The day consists of a comprehensive look at the fundamentals of how the camera works, how to use and understand the key functions the camera, and the theoretical application of the knowledge gained. Our groups never exceed eight students. Lunch and drinks are served at a great restaurant close by.
The second day of the course offers a more practical approach to landscape and creative photography, as we set out in the early light of the morning to the rugged beach of buffalo bay. On arriving at Buffalo Bay, various tasks are set out for the day. From the beach we head out into the depth of the Knysna forests to learn more about working in different light sources as well as working with tripods and filters. We have our lunch at a old English pub in the Belvedere area. We return to the studio to download images and do a short Photoshop exercise.
Day three consists of a lecture on people photography in our studio. We depart at around 10.00 for the colorful township above Knysna were we photograph shacks , windows doorframes and the local people. We have our lunch and drinks at a Xhosa eating house in Nekkies,this establishment is a experience not to be missed. After savoring this brilliant local food we visit the Rastafarian area were you will shoot some of the most colorful photographs to be found in South Africa. We return to our studio to download and check out the stunning images taken.
The course includes all refreshments and lunch in a great restaurant every day, as well as all transport in and around Knysna during the day’s tuition. All the training material is supplied on CD.
Elements of digital processing are also touched on in the course…
1 DAY COURSE
The one day course is basically a one-on-one introduction to photography and a brief rundown of ‘how to’ with the camera. The first half of the day is theory and getting to know a bit more about how your camera works, and the second half of the day is a more practical approach.
Tailor made courses can be built up on request should you wish to focus a day on-on-one on a certain sector of the photographic field.
WORKSHOPS

The reason we host these workshops is even though you may have participated in one of the courses already, certain areas of photography need a little more time and focus to master. Join us for an evening of sunset landscape photography and a braai on the beach……..
PHOTOSHOP
For the more digitally inclined enthusiasts, we offer tutorials on photoshop. From the beginner to the advanced, tailor made sessions can be arranged to teach you what you want to learn. These tutorials can be done in your home or at our facilities. Learn the art of colour correction, enhancement and layers…
Various Adobe Photoshop platforms for tutorial are available…
All photographic students will receive a comprehensive presentation on photography on disc for future reference. The presentation also offers many exciting links to various internet sites that offer useful hints and services that may come in useful.
